Hotels at Lesser Town

In the 8th century The Lesser Town started its life as a trading colony. In 1257 Premysl Otakar II granted it a royal town status and many more privileges. The residents were mostly German craftsmen, invited by the King.

Lesser Town has its unique magic. Tourists from the other side of the river will pass through the Lesser Town after they cross Charles Bridge from the Old Town, and walk up through Nerudova Street - the most well-known and certainly most picturesque spot in the Lesser Town. It's called Kralovska cesta (King's Road), as it used to be travelled by all Czech kings while heading to their crowning ceremony held at the St. Vitus Cathedral, the dominant of the Prague Castle. Passing the Lesser Town King’s Road you are surrounded by palaces of nobility, merchants' shops, mysterious arcades, and small hotels. Most hotels in the Lesser Town are set in ancient buildings, charmingly restored with many original features.

The Lesser Town was devastated twice – first time during the battle between the Hussites and the Prague Castle troops. And later, in 1514, by the „Prague’s Great Fire“. Renaissance buildings were replaced by new Baroque style buildings, which predominate till today.

Walking towards 5 star Hotel Savoy you can enjoy the above said magic of the Lesser Town to its fullest. Imagine falling asleep in a Art Nouveau house located below Castle gateway, surrounded by peace in a quiet diplomatic quarter. You have landed far enough away from large crowds, very close to scenic views. There is no better place to enjoy your meal than our Restaurant Hradčany with our unique openable roof and a live piano entertainment. You won’t be able to find any such amazing feature in any of the other hotels at Lesser Town. If you would like to admire the UNESCO heritage site Strahov Monastery or the Prague „Eiffel Tower“ named Petřín from unusual perspective, stay in our Presidential or Savoy suites, both with marble bathroom and a private terrace.
